This year's Opole Science Festival will last four days. It will begin with the Night of Science prepared by the University of Opole on Friday. Opole University of Technology will organise a festival of robots on Saturday, and on Sunday there will be a traditional science picnic on the OUTech Commons. Monday is the Open Day at both Opole universities.

Physics in Star Wars, chemistry in our kitchen, or demonstrations of robots are just some of the attractions, which will be presented by the University of Opole during the Festival Science Night. Festival participants will experience a night full of adventure, surprising experiments and demonstrations.

Opole Science Festival is for everybody regardless of age, or  whether they are interested in science and the world around or not. Teachers and students of the University of Opole will try to prove that all fields of science are not mutually exclusive but they merge. The achievements of our researchers will be presented in an interesting and accessible way.

 Night hunt with mathematics

Science Night will begin on Friday, June 10, at 4:00 pm at  the campus of the University of Opole. The Night will commence with a concert of the winners of the English Song Contest LinguaFest, and it will conclude with a performance of the Dance and Fire Theatre - Mantikora. During the night hunt the youngest students from Virtual Academy of Astronomy will be awarded for their participation in the contest: Discoverer of Worlds.

Science Night

Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of the University of Opole has prepared for participants of the Festival a workshop: From the smallest to the fastest; or the amazing world of the dinosaurs. With the Chair of Biosystematics interested will be able to choose the night catches insects on the island Bolko to find out Who is not sleeping at night?

For fans of puzzles, secrets and challenges University of Opole has prepared The Maze Full of Secrets.  One of the tasks will be to hit the designated point with laser using mirrors.

On an extraordinary journey into the world of the topology participants will be taken by students of mathematics. They will show them how to use the computer to draw spaces. IT students will present computer games in their own versions and they will give a chance to play all participants willing to play. Fans of computer games will have chance to participate in workshops showing how games are created.

Luminescences in the kitchen and the physics of Star Wars.

For those who want to eat consciously, to know what food is, and how to read the labels and what to look for in your daily diet, the Faculty of Chemistry has prepared a seminar: Opole - city of natural and safe food. The organizers of the seminar will help to understand new definitions of food, such as: functional, medical, or enriched food, dietary supplements and food additives. Chemists from the Faculty of Chemistry  will try to introduce participants to the chemical composition of food, the use of bioactive substances in our daily diet and the role of food in the proper functioning of the body.

In the Student Activity Centre fans of Star Wars will have an opportunity to hear a lecture combined with a presentation on Physics in Star Wars.

As always The kindergarten of physical experiments will be open for the youngest kids. Children will have a chance to prepare ice creams and learn about a non-Newtonian liquid which depending on the shear stress used can be poured like water or become hard and bounce like a ball. All this with be possible thanks to different proportions of potato flour and water.

Opole Festival of Science is not only about workshops, there are also lectures, inter alia, about bike physics, the history of the solar system and the latest achievements of scientists from the Institute of Physics of the UO.

Fun in the Middle Ages

Teachers and students from the Institute of History of the UO will take participants of the Festival to the past presenting them ancient pots, women’s ornaments and elements of armaments. History students will also present a performance - About baptism: or  the old and the new in one cauldron.
