The Department of Anglophone Cultures has a pleasure to invite students and academics to the international conference on Decay, Disease, Death in Literatures, Cultures, and Languages, which will be held from September 26 to 28, 2016 at the Institute of English, University of Opole. 

The topics of Decay, Disease, and Death are often avoided, dreaded or repressed. Nevertheless, they remain at the very heart of human experience and undoubtedly merit serious consideration. During our multidisciplinary conference we want to examine various aspects of decay, disease and death and how they operate within cultures and languages. Parallel conference sessions will include a wide variety of speakers from various disciplines including English, History, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Philosophy, Discourse Analysis and Cinema.

  • Prof. Elżbieta Chrzanowska-Kluczewska (Jagiellonian University, Kraków)
  • Prof. Jacek Fabiszak (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań)
