The Central European International Week was officially opened by Prof. Janusz Słodczyk, Vice-Rector for Research and Finance in the Senate Hall on April 16.

Addressing the guests from our partner universities in Japan, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Iran, Serbia, Bosnia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Montenegro, Professor Słodczyk said: - I am very happy to welcome you to our university, and it is a great satisfaction to host you here. This international week at our university is very important for us, as it is one of the outputs of our extensive international cooperation, which manifests itself, for example, in our participation in the Erasmus+ programme.

Professor Słodczyk also spoke about the traditions of our university, which stemmed from the roots of the Higher School of Pedagogy. He emphasized that the University of Opole is a perfect place to study mainly due to its interdisciplinary nature, and its location in Opole - a city that is intimate and climatic, and at the same time very attractive, with a rich cultural and recreational offer. At the end, he wished his guests a nice stay at the UO and in Opole, as well as fruitful work during the coming days.

The event has been organized, under the patronage of Professor Janusz Słodczyk, Vice-Rector of the UO, by the Department of Scientific Research and International Cooperation, the Office for International Studies Programmes, and the Erasmus+ Office. The international conference, which will take place on April 17-18, 2018 at the Student Culture Centre, is organized by Dr Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska from the Faculty of Philology and Dr Michał Wanke from the Institute of Sociology.
