On May 14, 2018, during the meeting at the City Hall, Mayor Arkadiusz Wiśniewski announced that the city had decided to donate 500 thousand zloties for the modernization of the cardiology ward of the University Hospital.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Marek Masnyk, Rector of the UO and the Head of the Cardiology Ward of the University Hospital, Dr Piotr Feusette.

We are very grateful for such great support from the city, especially as one of the two strategic directions of development of our university is, together with Pomology in Prószków, the medical school, - said Prof. Masnyk.

- The money, for which we would like to express our gratitude, is very much needed at the cardiology ward of UH, - emphasized Dr Feusette. - We have been trying to treat our patients in the best possible way for many years, and it has to be said that we have something to boast about, but we want the hospital and the ward to become a kind of trademark, a model of innovation in medicine in the years to come. The money that the city gives us, and for which we are very grateful, will make it possible to modernise the ward and reach that goal.

Dr Feusette familiarized the participants of the meeting with the work of the cardiology ward, where there are 67 beds, and where every day three heart specialists are on duty. The most severe cases of heart diseases, including myocardial infarctions, from the whole voivodeship are treated there. It is a unit of strategic importance for the health of the inhabitants of the Opole region.
