The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology was established in 1999 as a separate part of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. 

Currently, the Faculty has two scientific institutes: 
  • Institute of Biology, which conducts scientific activity in the discipline of Biology ( holds the rights to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees);
  • Institute of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology, which conducts scientific activity in the discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining, and Energy.
The Faculty offers the following study programmes:
  • first-cycle (BA) programmes, 3 years: Biology and Medical Biotechnology
  • first-cycle (BEng) programmes, 3.5 years: Landscape Architecture, Biotechnology, Technical and Information Technology Education, Forest Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection, Renewable Energy Sources, Agriculture;
  • second-cycle (MA) programmes, 2 years: Biology, Biology with Paleobiology (studies conducted in English), Medical Biotechnology; 
  • second-cycle (MA) programmes, 1.5 years - Landscape Architecture, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection;
  • third-cycle (PhD) programme, 4 years: Biology;
