The delegation of the University of Opole headed by Professor Janusz Słodczyk, Vice-Rector for Research and Finance, visited Fujian Normal University in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province.

The agreement, which was signed on behalf of the University of Opole by Professor Słodczyk, opens broad opportunities for cooperation in regard to student and staff exchange, publications, joint preparation of projects and raising external funding. Chinese students are not only interested in English language studies but also cultural and Slavonic studies, which is one of the strengths of the University of Opole.

During numerous meetings various fields of common interest were discussed, e.g. research on economic transformation, or urban areas.

The University delegation visited also two universities in Taiwan, where they participated in the conference organised by Taichung University and discussed possibilities of cooperation with the National Taiwan University, a large and modern university with a strong medical school. It is worth mentioning that the Polish language is growing in popularity in Taiwan.  A teacher of Polish, Jin Huei Chen, said that she had over 60 learners of Polish this year.
