Prize for PhD Students from Faculty of Chemistry

Paweł Groch and Arkadiusz Niemczyk – doctoral students from the Faculty of Chemistry - won the second prize of 5,000 zlotys in the competition ‘Forum of Young Innovators’, which was organised by Azoty ZAK S.A. in partnership with the Association ‘Industrial Park Metalchem’ based in Opole, Kędzierzyn-Koźle Industrial Park SP. z o.o. and the Specialist Chemistry Cluster Chem-Ster. The finals of the competition took place in Kędzierzyn-Koźle on 26 Oct. 2016. Our students competed against representatives of the Silesian University of Technology, Wrocław University of Technology, and Military Technical Academy in Warsaw.

The students, who pursue their dissertations under the guidance of Professor Krystyna Czaja, presented a project entitled ‘Polymeric composite materials with reduced flammability’. The idea of the submitted competition entry is the result of their 3-year scientific work in the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Opole.
